I'm enjoying his new show. Unfortunately it seems to be broken up by inappropriate trailers & news & travel now at both 7pm and 8pm. Cant they just let the music talk for 2 hours? At least Patrick Lunt is back tonight. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hi ern,
Hmmm, the classical music has been OK but the rest just sounds like Desmond's show. He's not rabbiting on as much as I thought but the trailers are an interference. This in no way is a good replacement for Y100BT.
I think this might just be the 10,000 posting on R2ok !

One would wonder if Classic fm will adjust their schedule to take advantage of the demise of YHBT. Currently from 9-11 they have The Guest List with Anne-Marie Minhall going through her picks of this week's books, CDs, films, concerts. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

CFM did take advantage of the R3 schedule (of World Music and Fusion/Electronica programmes every weekday evening) by putting on complete works with only 3 or 4 car insurance ads between 9-midnight, so yes they might do the same Sunday now. R3 though are doing a new classical slot in the evenings from February so it's all change

For me, so far so good. I did not expect a direct replacement for YHBT, but there is sufficent and varied music to keep me going _________________ Geddon

Oh gawd, a trailer to SW's Ask Elvis before we heard the sublime Scheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov
I will certainly be writing to Alan with some negative comment

Geddon, you're right it's not a replacement for Y100BT (must keep reminding myself) It IS a good replacement for Melodies For You, in fact it IS Melodies For You

John,
Yes a bit overzealous with the trailers, but overall, what I heardup to 8pm was of sufficient quality to bring me back next week ( I may even record Top Gear in order to listen through) _________________ Geddon

They are so out of place aren't they? I remember on the chill-out programmes last year they played Rolling Stone trailers in between songs!
Clearly the trailers are slotted in later after Alan has recorded his bits.
Does anybody think about what they are doing? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I can only think their justification is that they believe the new line up will attract a slightly different audience, one that is more inclined to listen to SW with a little persuasion. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I enjoyed the show but to me it had a very similar playlist to MFY. In which case, what was the point of elbowing Sheridan _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I like Alan, he's articulate and funny (in a quaint, Yorkshire sort of way).
BUT Ask Elvis trailers are beyond the pale.... _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |

Cherskiy, that's backward logic. From what you're saying they'd be better with Titchy trailers on SW, not the other way round
Yeah?

You mean they haven't put AT trailers on SW already? Sheesh!
