And the start is very much like 'Sweet Dreams' by Eurythmics. _________________ Geddon

Kermit played both that and Mika this morning - is he trying to drive away both his listeners? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

No, he's quite capable of eradicating any possible interest people have in listening to his show without outside assistance.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Yes it does, and it kind of goes to pot after that. |

I have to say, I was confused as to why football was being discussed on this thread!
I think it's one of those songs I switch off from.

I must admit, I haven't heard it much this week, then I haven't had R2 on much in the daytime! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

You're not missing much - "Chelsea" or the Mika catastrophe. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I think the lowest point was last week when Ken played it just 10 minutes after Terry did - now that's amateurish! It used to be policy that you couldn't even have the same artist in 2 shows in a row, never mind the same song. No wonder we're sick of everything.
As for Mika - ooooh, he's bloody annoying, isn't he? His constant calls for me to love him is smacking of desperation, as if his entire life has been surrounded by people telling him to sod off... |

I wish the people telling him to sod off had also included the record company managers.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I saw him on Jay Leno's Tonight show the other night, so obviously he is off to conquer the US as well now. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hopefully they'll give him an orange jumpsuit and send him down to Gitmo for crimes against music.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Apparently, quite a few did - that's what "Grace Kelly" is all about. He was so annoyed by his latest rejection that he went home and wrote it. Quite what happened next, I'm not sure (but I bet the words "scissor" and "sisters" come into it).
As for America - we know he's trying to conquer there because of all his appearances on SxSW the other week. For all of Radio 2's championing of it as a music festival, it's really just a trade fair. |

That Mika record bloomin' awful!
You'd think Radio 2 would have learnt by now that constant repetition of the same tracks drives us all to other stations! _________________ MiS |

It's my theory that the Chelsea song is being played because Prince Harry's dating a girl called Chelsea, though there hasn't been a corresponding leap in airplay for Marillion's 'Chelsea Monday'.
A member of my Weight Watchers class had that sodding Mika song as a ringtone! That week I'd been getting rejections myself from potential employees, and I didn't want the reminder that went off. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.
