Can I just flag this up. A wonderful, extraordinary, emotional 2 hour tribute from a man who was a guest presenter on R2 recently - Danny Baker. If you were a fan of John Martyn's music, you'll love it. If on the other hand, like me, you knew precious little about him, I think this programme will leave you musically a little wiser and possibly in agreement that we've lost someone quite special. I certainly will be checking more of his albums out.
Clearly John Martyn and his music played a big part in Dan's life. This programme - which was meant to be just his regular BBC London afternoon show - is thoughtfully, delicately and brilliantly articulated.
Enjoy.

I only got to know John Martyn's music though his "Solid Air" tribute to his friend Nick Drake but I'm grateful that I did, ( although I still prefer Nick Drake) |

Thanks for the link.
A great show, and a fine tribute to a remarkable man. _________________ Nick

A pleasure, Becky. Had to share. Just the most compulsive piece of radio I've heard in a long time, and a wonderful introduction to John Martyn's music. Just 1 day left if you still haven't heard. It'll be gone after 3pm - Thursday 5th. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

I'll try and listen to it again. I wish it was a podcast, as it is one of those "keep forever" programmes. _________________ Nick
