Wouldn't it be nice if, instead of playing Fleet Foxes' single Mikonos and then saying "I don't think that's about the Greek island of Mikonos" that Richard Allinson could actually tell us what it is about instead of being so smug - as usual.

Well, he did nick the joke off the Wogmeister. Fleet Foxes though - bloody amazing. |

At first I thought it was one of Johnny Walker's dodgy hippy bands, but it's grown on me.
Don't know what it's about though! |

Radcliffe/Maconie and Bob Harris did a great deal to launch them in Britain last year. I went to see them live in Glasgow and they were terrific.
Their album is just magical - it always transports me from whatever I'm doing to somewhere ethereal. How four voices blend to produce the sound of a choir, I have absolutely no idea.
And, John, whilst the lead singer does appear as a cardigan-wearer Jesus-alike, they all came across as 'down to earth blokes'. Those said Jesus-alikes did come on stage with a mug of tea, which I thought was spot-on as a final touch. |

JW's 'dodgy hippy bands' are, on the whole, better than most of the repetitive playlist songs we hear day in day out! Still, I agree that Fleet foxes deserve praise. |

Great radio earlier this week when he sat in for Steve Wright. |

So good that Wrighty came scurrying back early and practically admitted he didn't like hearing someone so good in his slot! |

hehe... I would assume that because Steve was actually ill rather than in America this was the first time he's heard the stand-in. And he got a real fright! It healed him! |

I heard KB playing it yesterday whilst I was driving back up from Wales. Thought to myself - hmmm, stuff that Bob played months ago is finally making it onto the playlist.
Some of the other tracks on their album are fairly out of the ordinary, too. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
