I caught the first of these 2 shows last night and although a repeat, I think it's been the best of the Motown shows so far, except for maybe the record producers.
Adam White (I don't know anything about him?) was obviously around as it all happened and IMHO describes things as they were pretty well. I saw the Motown Review at the City Hall Newcastle in April 65 and it was a fabulous show. They get to the tour itself in 2nd part of the show.
Martha and the Vandellas' Heatwave was the first motown track that I heard and I still like it to this day. It's the early Motown that I love the most and didn't realise that the first Motown record that I bought, Mary Wells' My Guy, was in fact the first UK Motown hit. My second purchase, Baby Love by the Supremes, was their first UK no 1. Both were still on the EMI Stateside label as the Tamla Motown label didn't come into being until 1965.
The second half is next Tuesday at 10.30 and I'd say it's worth a listen for the memories, Dusty and the Motown 'Ready Steady Go' special clips etc!
