What does "shortly" mean......is it longer than a moment? Are there any defined parameters for "Shortly"? I can remember being off school when just a youngling- back in the days when television signals were subject to regular "technical faults" and closedown periods, on just such a day, on our TV screen - it said - "Rainbow will follow shortly". I'm pretty sure that Rainbow came on that very same day, which means that shortly isn't as long as waiting until next week. Maybe shortly is subjective. Who knows?
WRT the interviews, I've bought a new push up bra, dusted off my power suit, and polished by black knee-highs...... that should do it! |

Please in God's name don't let that imbecile who doesn't care about music take charge
His musical knowledge begins with the X Factor and ends with Coldplay |

Why do R2 need a Head of Music and a Controller????
What they do need is someone who will scrap the playlist and give us a wider variety. _________________ MiS |

Well: the interview went ahead as planned -after which I was offered the job but before I explain why I had to then turn down the position: know this: sometimes you have to be very careful with that game "My dream job would be".... and phone messages taken by someone else- I'll take you back a few weeks/days. A few weeks ago I played a party game ' My dream "whatever" would be' It came to my turn and the whatever was "job"- to much mirth and merriment, I said, " BBC Radio 2 Controller because I'd like nothing better that to keep a bunch of rowdy Disc-Jockies in check...
weeks past.......'til
Monday last week.....
Imagine my surprise when I stepped into the shower and turned on the water; my hubby slid open the shower door, then prodded me in the small of the back with something quite firm and ergonomically shaped- " It's for you", he said, now holding the phone up to my face. I said, "Doh! I'm all wet , who is it?" ... "it's the BBC about that controller job you've always had your eye on- I applied for you".... "Oh ... can you take a message- I'll call them back."( Hubby is a little hard of hearing). After I'd showered, got dressed and cotton budded all of the water from my ears, I went downstairs to return the call. "What was the message?" I asked. Hubby said , "oh you don't need to ring them back , they're sending a car to pick you up for your interview- at 9am sharp on Friday 9th". Oh fab I thought.
Friday ( this morning) arrived- got ready- power suit - perfume- a hint of cleavage- and boots - a killer combination. The car arrived at 08:55 on the dot. Out I went - "hello", said the driver - "I'm Jimmy-fe Scotland".. "hello Jimmy, I'm Rachel". We set off into town - a very short while later, we pulled up by a Portakabin behind the Station. " It's in there", said Jimmy. "My interview?" "Aye". Wow! I thought- they've all come down here- they must really want me. "Hello I'm Phil fe Scotland- you must be Rachel", said a tall good looking chap- "I'll introduce you to the team". You've brought the team?" "Oh aye, they've all come in especially- we've never had an interviewee like you before". This is " the old yin, and then there's little Kenny- he drives the minibus- that's big Mc-Jezza- he's always putting the world to rights, and there's Stevo and his lad Timmymac and of course you've met Jimmy already- are you ready for your audition bonny-lass? " Audition!!?" - aye just sit
here - press that wee button, then read out what's written on this card. " Any cars free in the town centre area?" dribbled from my lips as it dawned on me that I may be at the wrong interview. " Aye" said Phil, ye'll dee....you're now our new Controller- any questions. "Yes" I said, " is this BBC Radio 2?" "Oh no - everyone makes that mistake- this is 3BC Radioed 2U - we're a wee radio controlled cab company- all drivers fe Scotland we started with just 3 black cabs hence 3BC. Aye we have a bunch of the finest jocks here: after a cup of tea and a hand or two of poker with the lads, I said I'd let them know...... |
