Is that Emma Bunton again? What's the poor girl done to be lumbered with Wrighty every year?
(Mind you, could be worse - it could be Keith Chegwin!) |

Jeremy had his pleasure. Bless Cheggars at least he was helping. Poor Sarah, Terry and Ken never had any guests. Where was Guy Henry? I think some other presenters from the station could have come in and done a bit? Unless they were maining the phones. |

Another excellent turn from the cast of East Enders on this evening's CIN.. very entertaining. I was also pleased to see Duffy ( although "Puffy" might be appropriate soon, put on a little weight I think? ) and Girls Allowed were good too. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Her singing is certainly an acquired taste, and not to mine. Looked... well, I'll just say it's a good job the Dead Ringers crowd are no longer around - they'd have a field day.
The final total on the night was as impressive as it was unexpected in the current climate - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7728182.stm _________________ Ron |

Duffy's new song " Rain On My Parade" is good? Nicola from Girls Aloud does have a pale face? |

I really like her but I can understand some not liking Duffy's singing voice. My wife can't stand the over-emphasized vibrato she adopts. It doesn't bother me but that's one thing I don't like about Cliff Richard's singing!
Yes, Nicola does look a little pale and I'm not sure about the hair-do either!
I like these girls as a group, they seem well managed, not too full of themselves and their latest song is pretty good pop material?
I just wish naturally good looking girls like this wouldn't try to go over the top with make up and false eye lashes and end up looking like dolls...
or am I getting old? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Combination of lighting and makeup overload, I don't think any of the girls looked very good. But then your last phrase applies here as well. _________________ Ron |

I still think it was better when it was a 24 hour music marathon and the night shift got to be a part of it as well as the daytime shows. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

To paraphrase Terry's comment this morning, it's amazing how everyone (the media, and some of us) are quick to criticise and splash across the front page every tiny thing the BBC gets wrong, and happily gives coverage to the government when it dips its hands into our pockets and gives £21 million to some cause or organisation worthy or otherwise (at least, they used to until £21m became such small fry and they started adding several more noughts to the figures). However, when it stages a nationwide live event (no matter how cheesey) over seven hours and stimulates such interest to encourage the general British public to pledge the same amount of money, the silence is deafening. _________________ Ron |

Agreed Ron, but wouldn't say "Brandgate" could be described as "a tiny thing".
The beeb is good at many things but time and again it shoots itself in the foot. Credit where it's due - CIN has raised a fabulous amount of money. _________________ MiS |

Hmm, but Jonathan Ross making outlandish jokes does pale into insignifance in comparison to child abuse, neglect and the recent atrocious events that have been reported in the papers this week. |

The ratings for the TV show trounced everything else that night, including Corrie. They were even getting 7m after the news - twice the size of Ross's ratings in that slot! |

I'm sure CIN would have raised the same money? It's strange the same week we had a big story about Child abuse, and people are pledging lots of their hard earn money? |

I found it interesting that last week they were mentioning the child 'P' abuse story and using it as a reason of encouraging people to give to CIN. I found it a bit worrying that people should have to give to a charity to try and irradicate such abuse. The authorities should be solving this not just using the charities however admirable they are. |

I agree but not everyone else agrees with me (and perhaps you) that taxes should be raised in order to allow this to happen. Unfortunately, in a democratic society where political parties want to stay in power, charities will always be a necessary way of providing services.
As for using Baby P as a way of getting money out of us - I never heard that being used? If it was, surely it's not the best advert: requesting money to pay for a service that has been shown to fail... (well according to the papers anyway... before anyone responds to this let me just say that I'm aware we don't know all the facts and that social services saves lives every day. However, i'm sure everyone would agree that the popular image of this case has cast the system in an awkward light and not one that would make people give money).
As for the Children in Need event itself - I missed it - was it really the 'best ever' as Wogan keeps saying? |

As far as I know I do pay taxes to stop Child Abuse etc, that's what the Social Services, Police are supposed to be about. (but with a success rate fall for the police you do wonder)
I definitely heard it on more than one occasion where it was said, and probably not an official line, that there had been abuse stories in the press recently and this is a good time to give to CIN.
Not sure how Terry judges it, maybe how good a time he had. To me its just hours and hours of poor quality TV. |
