Opening line was a classic.
"And in a change to our advertised programme..... <pause>.... yeah."
The Dark Lord is in fine form. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Also...
'...And why me, I hear you ask?'
"Well... it's the hair isn't it".
He's doing a good job - played more records in 15 mins than Brand played in a whole show! |

I agree.
Some decent music played on a Saturday night between 9-11am. This is what we want.
Lets have Messrs Allinson and Lester confirmed in these slots as permanent arrangements. |

Agreed.... yet still manages to wring clever bits out of the brief bits of time between songs (RB please note: you don't have to be crude to be funny!).
In a response to a text asking if he was live.... "Checks pulse.... yes, I am alive."
I also liked the text from someone who, after deciding to take a nap after X-Factor (I thought the best time would be during it, but there you go!), woke up to Alex and wondered whether he'd completely slept through Sunday and it was now Monday morning....
Alex actually mentioned Eleanor McEvoy - someone else I could add to my list of musicians I've never heard on R2 before.
Actually enjoying R2 on a Saturday evening for a change. Razorlight, The Eagles, it's all good. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Caught some of Alex's show. Not all the music was up my alley but it was nice to hear lesser-known album tracks by mainstream artists, showing both that you don't have to dig up the obscure and unknown to present something different, and underlining again that we usually hear a very limited range, even in the evening.
Eleanor McEvoy is doing a tour of the UK at the moment. Alex played her on Friday morning. Bob has as well, in the past, but not for a while.
A regular posting to the slot would play havoc with his extra-cirricular activities

Yes good to be able to put on R2 and hear some good music on a saturday night.
Alex shows promise and plays some great tracks you don't hear elsewhere, but I wish he'd drop the dark lord and all that rubbish stuff in between, it might be OK for truckers in the early hours (when I hope I'm not listening) but not for mainstream. |
