Howdy doody.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way of finding out how many times a song has been played on Radio 2.
I am asking this because I think "Write you a love song" must have been played well over a 100 times, which is a total disgrace. |

You could look through all the presenters pages what music is played. |

In answer to the first part, I don't think there is, unless you save all the "Music Played" listings for yourself to keep count. Someone at the Beeb will know, because they have to pay royalties to the PRS or whoever, but I suspect that it's commercially sensitive information and therefore not for public consumption.
In answer to the second part, it's perfectly possible, since any A Playlist record is likely to get five or six plays a day; for its sins, it's a very radio-friendly track. I note that it has disappeared from the list, so it may now get less exposure; also note that, despite heavy promotion and discounting, the album hasn't done that well in the chart, so maybe we shall be spared such repetition of other tracks from it. _________________ Ron |

I, too dislike the 'heavy rotation' of tracks. I can only see it being to the detriment of the artist who recorded the track when the listening public have become sick of hearing it by the time it's available for general purchase. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I think it's a great song, but really has been hammered into the ground now. As usual.
I note that Gabriella Cimli has come back big this week despite being flogged to death just a few weeks ago.

Maybe having a lead single that basically says "all the rest of the album doesn't sound like this, they forced me to write it so I'd have a hit record" is not the smartest marketing move? |

Strange about Gabriella Cimli - it's on Radio 1's main playlist as well.
(I was wrong - Love Song hasn't dropped off the list - and even mark's beloved Smooth are playing it!) _________________ Ron |

Thanks for the replies
I agree it was quite a good song when you first heard it but when it's played to death it puts you totally off the artist.
I too am perplexed as to why they are playing Gabriella Cilmi again after playing that to death earlier aswell. |
