Listening to the chap on Drivetime this evening talking about Star's Cars made me think of a trip to Los Angeles back in the 80s when I called into a Mustang supply shop for parts for my car.
The owner there had Sonny & Cher's customised 60s Mustangs on display along with the car from the TV series "Get Smart" ( remember that? )
Later at a place called Harrah's Motor Museum in Reno, I saw several cars from films including the black Mercury ( I think, or was it a Buick? ) from "Rebel without a Cause" and "famous" custom jobs from the well known customiser George Barris.
Two of his cars I'd love to see one day is the Munster Coach and the 60s Batmobile.
My brother also had a rediculously long stretched 70s Buick said to belong to Marvin Gaye. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

There's a film version coming out soon. Dunno if it's got the same cars though! |

Can't see the point really, I doubt if it'll be as good, remakes seldom are.
I remember the original series but not in detail although it was compulsory viewing in my world back then.
I recall the opening sequence was Agent Smart opening lots of security doors on his way into the office and his car had a tv screen below the dash! also, wasn't there a female agent in the series who admired him?... dunno.
"Not quite Chief" was one of his catch phrases.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

All those elements are in the film, which stars Steve Carrell (from the US Office) as Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. |

The original series was written by Mel Brooks. The film isn't - nuff said! _________________ Geddon

Actually... he did an uncredited rewrite. |
