Turned on the radio again this morning at 0610 and heard a male voice instead of la Kennedy's usual ramblings - it was Aled. A planned day off or another illness? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

It may be compassionate Cherski.
I happened to listen back to Wogan one day last week (I wanted to hear something I'd only half heard!). Just before she handed over she said her mother had died. It probably was why she was off on other occasions as well.

Hello Helen,
I hadn't heard about her bereavement - that would explain her absence.

I hadn't either, as I said it was just by chance that I caught her remark.

She's gone on the train to Penrith and onto a hotel, and a ride around in a Audi R8 etc etc for a day out with some punters who paid excessive amounts to CIN

TW mentioned it this morning. Interesting how "Much Beloved" is now being referred to by his real name of Adrian, who owns a garden centre in Wellingborough, Northants. SK is often seen mooching about at weekends I do believe.
I notice that she still adds little comments like "And you know what I think about that..." when reading newspaper headlines in her show. I'm surprised that she's still allowed to get away with this. It's like Huw Edwards in the 6 o'clock news saying "And here's another story about that fascist Mugabe. And we all know what I think about Mugabe don't we" or whatever. I know SK isn't paid to read the news, but it's pretty close all the same... _________________ ONline, ONdigital and ONtherocks: BBC Radio 2. Sarah lost her Mother some weeks ago. She mentioned this during the week after receiving emails from listeners. I guess this is why she may have been sounding slightly off on the radio. At least she came in whilst her mother was ill.
My condolences go out to Sarah with her sad loss. |
