That opening track by Freddie Cannon, Palisades Park, takes me back, I bought that when I was 12 form a record shop in South Wigston, played it none stop on my Garrard single play record player, quality see, not your cheap & nasty Dansette auto changer Anybody else remember this excellent single from 1962?

Yes indeed, BB. I have a CD with most of Freddy Cannon's hits including that song. I also have a version by (the) Beach Boys that my grandchildren love to dance around to!
That piping organ sound on early rock'n'roll records always reminds me of fairgrounds and riding on the waltzers with girls screaming. Not that I was making them scream! |

Hi Briant and BB
I saw Freddy Cannon as recently as 2000 when he was part of the Solid Gold 60s (?) line up that included Bobby Vee, Johnny Tillotson and Little Eva. He did 'Talahassee Lassie' which was the only one I could remember. My husband knew a few more as his older brother had a few of the records apparently!

Well, I wasn't around in 1962 but I still enjoyed it! Have the first hour of the review done already - some cracking stuff and much more to come.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
