I think he is better than Steve Lamacq and find his style and presentation fine; the problem, IMHO, is that Bob Harris is just so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and confident that it is impossible for anyone covering to come close to him.

A nice summation - there is no-one else like Bob on the radio, the guy is irreplaceable.
Hope his treatment is going okay. |

I don't know how Bob is doing, he is of course still doing his Thursday show and so I hope his treatment is going great.

I heard Gideon for the first time a couple of weeks ago and liked the show. He was just calm, not manic and I actually played the show on Listen Again as I'm normally asleep by that time.
I was disappointed to hear 'love the sound of my squawky voice Brand' on when I turned the radio on last Saturday.
Is Gideon covering until Bob gets back?

Hello RB. Gideon was a one-off, the regular stand-in is Steve Lamacq, who, himself was away that week.
Bob's country shows are recordings. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Are Bob's country shows recently recorded, ie within the past few months? |

I don't know how recent the recordings are, but a week or two before Bob left his weekend show to start his treatment, he did say that his country show was recorded, which is why you can still hear him on Thursday evenings but not at weekends. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Hi LEE/Arcader,
I think at least a couple of the Thursday shows were pre-recorded a few months prior to him receiving treatment, as a few of the live sessions were done back in the early summer.
I don't know how Bob is doing - but no news is good news? Hopefully he'll be back before we know it. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

In any event I quite like Gideon Coe.
GC seems to have a mid morning daily show on BBC 6 music-as stated in another post the broadcasting style is "calm, not in your face, pleasant, quite easy going" when I have tuned in.
Perhaps Gideon should be tried out in the daylight hours on BBC Radio 2. |

Gideon Coe was sitting in again for Bob last night, IMHO, he did an excellent job and I would agree with you Mark that he seems just right for R2. Maybe he is being groomed for "Good Morning With Gideon" or "Evening Coe Coe"

As long as it isn't "The Big Coe Show" I wouldn't mind.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

its wierd that Gideon has been demoted from his mid morning show on radio 6 music to a late night slot when theyre starting to use him on radio 2 (George Lamb takes over his morning slot from october 22 for those who didnt know) |
