My overtime at work finished roughly the same time as JW's drivetime so I haven't really heard any radio after 5.15 up until 2 months ago when my overtime restarted(HOORAY).
Because of this I've kept out of the debates about Chris but have read all the posts about him.
From a personal point of view I've got to say I really enjoy the show and love the way Chris involves Johnny, Rebecca and Sally who all seem to really enjoy themselves.
Also Chris involves the listeners aswell which I also find enjoyable.
As I said before they are personal feelings but my main point is I think the music is great. So far this week I've heard 10cc,Suzi Q,The Doors,Steptoe theme,The Who,Cliff,Judas Priest,Musical Youth,Springsteen,Adam and the Ants,The Police,Four Tops,Cream,The Beatles,Queen,Proclaimers,Lloyd Cole, etc.
Now even if you don't like Chris you have to admit that is a great selection of music especially after the constant repetition of music from Steve Wright for the previous 3 hours. |

Thanks gaz, at least I know what I'm missing. A lot of that music listing looks grim to me
All that 'involvement' is good, but you omitted to say that 'Evans' is also involved
(haven't had an Evans rant for a while) |

Gaz's medication will now be revised to therapeutic levels. _________________ Geddon

Great Show.
Stumbled a bit when he first started, not as good as his Saturday show was, but is now doing an excellent show
I'm enjoying MR with Lisa Tarbuck followed by Chris this week |

Well Radders & the Tarbuck tart are fine, but can't face CE, still each to their own.

I have pretty much that selection of music on iTunes. The advantage of listening to rather than boring old R2 is that there's no infantile Evans to contend with between (and even on top of) tracks! |

So there I was trapped in the garage because of a heavy downpour and I had to endure the first few minutes of.... Chris Evans...
Talk about sweet and sour, first record was Elvis Presley ( which Evans talked over the end of.. ) followed by Jimi Hendrix ( which he also talked over the end of )
Also, strange to hear him talking to a kid about something or other then, moments later he's talking to a girl about Handjobs and Facials with all the associated double entenders! funny old game...
Luckily, it stopped raining so I can get back to Planet Rock. |

It's quite sad, really, isn't it!

A much better alternative, I have to agree. |

Maybe I should spend more time listening to the "future of radio 2" after all.
I might then be able then to spot the difference between Steve Wright's and Chris Evan's shows?
Apart from tha awful voice and teeth sucking, I don't think there's much between them.. maybe they're both 80's throwbacks? what ever that means..
actually, I think Radders is better than both! |

Me too. The guy has an amiable self-deprecating sense of humour, coupled with a great turn of phrase plus an excellent musical knowledge and appreciation - and he doesn't feel the need to resort to childish games on air, either! |

Despite enjoying the show, I have to agree that the switch from the regular kid slot to innuendo about hand jobs was a bit too jarring. |

Can we change the name of "Drivetime" to "Drive-me-round-the-bend-time"?

My preference is for the term first coined namely - "Driveltime" _________________ Geddon

Mark, you're doing it again. What on earth does the above statement actually mean? I may have worked for the corporation once (10 years on salary, 6 years on freelance rolling contract), but I'm now freelance and glad to be out of it (as so many other good, once-faithful, employees are). Evans is also freelance on contract. He's not "an employee" in the accepted sense, either.
Like many, many people in the BBC (and also, I might add, within Radio 2) I resent the amount of money that is paid for Evans' "services" - especially since many other people working in both production and technical grades had to have their contracts curtailed in order that Ms. D could find the money to honour the initial deal.
So I don't quite get what "you should be backing all your colleagues" actually means. I'm thinking more of the licence-fee payers whose money is being squandered by people like the Controller, BBC Radio 2.
And I'm also thinking of the studio resources manager who was laid off a month before his wife was due to give birth to their first child in order that Evans could be paid his huge "fee". |
