Well, I figured I'd start a thread off about Alex's replacement whilst he's across the pond....
She's not too bad - doesn't shout, enunciates clearly enough, seems to have a smile behind what she's saying - upshot, does the job well enough. Haven't heard enough to tell whether she's suited towards a regular slot, but I suspect on what I've heard so far she could easily fill in for Alex or Janice when they're off on holidays, etc. (it would be better than Tim Smith or Pete Mitchell!).
However, as I'm typing this, she played Franz Ferdinand twice in a row, though - and you could hear her telling the producer in the background! - then played Pink Martini's Hey Eugene instead of the planned Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc!
Nemone is apparently filling in for Alex at some stage, according to his page on the R2 website - I don't think anyone's mentioned that so far. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I fell asleep to her dulcet tones last night -she does have a pleasant voice.
I wonder, however, if she shares the same producer as Pete Mitchell because, like him, she gets to talk about things of which she has absolutely no knowledge, and gets them wrong - like last night's Apprentice, which she admitted she hadn't watched, and then said that one of the finalists was "Kristina, mother of one" and went on to remark about how it will be a struggle to cope with Sir Alan and bring up a child.
Kristina's son is 18 and has gone to uni, which has given her the time and energy to seek a more challenging career and to apply for The Apprentice. _________________ Ron |

Nikki is standing in this week and next, then Nemone for the following two weeks.
Nikki is ok, although she was too loud earlier in the week, someone tweaked the mic level for yesterday's and this morning's show. She seems a little nervous, she was quite stiff on Monday and Tuesday but was better yesterday and again this morning. Probably quite shocked at some of the text messages. I don't think I'll ever say to myself , oh great Nikki is on, I must tune in but if she just happened to be on , there's no reason to switch off the radio. |

She's doing OK.
Needs to get certain facts right.... "Tommy" Iommi???? but that could be the producers fault.
She seems to have calmed down a little the last 2 mornings and she seems more comfortable- to be honest if it was me, I'd be nervous for a couple of days my first go on national radio.
She appears to be a nice girl, and her personality is starting to show now.
Loving the Asian stuff she's been playing, too
Hope when Nemone takes over she reads out the instruction book to her boiler, like she did on Radio 1.....hubba, hubba! _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Just an observation but if R2 need more female presenters then Janey Lee Grace is always there.
i found her mildly amusing on the weekend 3-6 so i wonder if she is conscious of increasing her carbon foot print so not travelling into London more than necessary _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Maybe :
Suzi Q's early Breakfast Wake up from 3-6 could be the answer,
Jive and rock n roll at 3 in the morning would certainly keep you tuned in _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Mike- to answer both your questions:
Janey Lee Grace.... No no no no no!
Suzi Quatro.... Yes yes yes yes yeah baby! It'd be a lot more fun than the mad cat woman and her assorted ailments _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

I have the perfect solution:
Suzi Q, permanent 3-6am
Alex Lester, permanent 2-5pm
