Is the new policy of having Pete Mitchell on the radio at regular twelve hour intervals over the weekend meant to prove some kind of theory?
Its a very weird experiment. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Er.... umm....
Actually listened to about thirty minutes whilst I was sweating away on my exercise bike. I'm not entirely sure which one was supposed to be the torture.... I gave up and started listening to "Classic FM At The Movies" instead. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

The experiment of sleep depriving the most sleep inducing presenter on Radio 2 is fuelled by coffee. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

The theory they are trying to prove is that they don't have enough money to pay the stand-in presenters. They could have got someone to cover Pete's show this weekend and they didn't. _________________ Fred Hart

Well with Dermot taking 6 months off Pete better stock up on those pep pills, otherwise not sleeping for 48 hours might start to get to him. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hi Ernie-Yes I also heard mention that Dermot is off Radio 2 for 6 months.
I did not hear confirmation though that Pete Mitchell is the stand in whilst Dermot is away. Did I miss this or was it not mentioned.
Nothing against Pete Mitchell but he does sound as though he is not really enjoying himself when he is on the radio-I don't find his broadcasting style exciting. |

I dont think it is confirmed yet who will do the stand-in. But if Dermot is going to the X Factor for the next few years perhaps it would be better to give up the regular show rather than doing a half year on, half year off. He could still do cover work during the year on weekday shows on 2.
I suspect Radio 2 are short of money at the moment. The lower licence fee settlement means that their budget will drop 5-10% in real terms so as Fred says they may have to use an existing stand-in presenter rather than going for a big name.
Is your friend available on Saturday afternoons? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Indeed Richard is-whilst he presents Allinsons Albums on a Saturday which goes out on Radio Oxford 12-2pm and for Radio York 1-3pm its not going out live.
Richard prepares/mixes the 2 show at Radio Oxford earlier in the day and is gone from there by about 11.30am-therefore he could easily make it down to London for a 4.30pm show.
Restoring Richard to a show Saturday afternoon's would just be fantastic but sadly I don't it's going to happen. |

Pete Mitchell is a broadcaster who is interested in music and thats what the network is all about. He brings something different. Razor Cuts was good when he hosted it on Virgin. I do like listening to Pete. |

Pete Mitchell is so underused on Radio 2. It's about time he was promoted to weekdays or something.
How about a late-night slot, 11.00pm - 1.00am, Monday to Thursday? |
