Have to say not only have the Richard Allinson shows been great so far this week covering for Ken Bruce but I have also really enjoyed/chuckled at the handovers between RA and Terry Wogan each day-especially today's banter re Richard 's suggestion that TW should record some voice overs for the BBC lifts.
This got me thinking-perhaps the schedule/programme changes on Radio 2 should be on the half hour to allow a proper handover from one presenter to another as opposed to on the hour (Sarah Kennedy excluded) as we have now. This would inject a bit of live/change into the daily schedule and would require each presenter to work a little bit harder and bring some fun to the proceeedings.
What do others think? |

A very seventies radio concept, perhaps? Cheesy handovers between two people who hated each other (Noel Edmunds, who had just taken over the R1 breakfast slot, and Tony Blackburn, who had just lost the breakfast slot to the bloke taking the handover) come to mind. |

Stop putting down Sarah as I think it would be good to have a handover between Sarah and Terry, but the half hourly news stops this. Ken and Terrys hand overs are very interesting too. This is the only radio station which does the one half hour hand over. There is no need to have all presenters having handovers. |

What would be wrong with Sarah doing a handover? |

Nothing. While you might get a hand-over from her to Terry, it certainly won't happen prior to the start of her show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Ken Bruce and JV manage a handover at 12 o'clock.
Have enjoyed Richard's this week!

Handovers are fine - they make it seem like all the DJs are best friends living happily together in R2 Towers.
But those between Terry and Dermot were painful the other week: 2 numpties with nothing to say! |

Can you imagine SW coming into JV's studio at 1335 and telling him what's on the show today.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Actually that's happened once or twice. From a few cheeky comments from the likes of Ken and Jeremy, it seems Steve spends the whole day hanging around the R2 studios. Nobody knows why |

JV: What's on the show today?
SW: Same thing as every other day

Maybe he's trying to find out how to do a show. It seems he hasn't picked up too many tips! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Good to see the negative messages on this thread-not.
Mark O-FYI I'm not putting Sarah Kennedy down in my original thread-I made the point that she does get/is able to do a handover-fact-this is because of a news bulletin that is scheduled at 7.30am which you note.
There is no criticism/put down by me of her in my original posting.
NB-Are you planning to join the rest of us in Birmingham? |
