An extract from Chris' blog today:
====================
So I woke up this morning to my alarm clock radio and....
the lovely SARAH KENNEDY doing her bit for the BEEB right here on BBC RADIO 2.
I think Sarah's show is cracking, it's just what you need at that time in the morning, she does all the work for you whilst you just lie there contemplating how the day might pan out and how best to kick it off.
This morning, however during her paper review, i nearly fell out of bed...
SARAH: "...And there's a bit here about BILLIE PIPER and CHRIS EVANS getting divorced today so CHRIS can marry his lady golfer... "
Can you imagine being in your own bed with your own early morning fuzzy thoughts and then hearing that about yourself, I mean even if it were true and frankly I have no idea if it is, I'm sure I'll be the last to know, it's still a bit of a shocker... It was hilarious.
Yesterday at my restaurant some stupid journalist tried to pretend that they'd been invited to my wedding but they'd not yet been told where it was ! They asked the manageress, a good friend of mine, if she had any idea as to the location. Of course she denied all knowledge. She told me last night, we were laughing our heads off.
Most journalists are lazy, misguided, stupid and deeply unimmaginative, which is ironic seeing as they spend most of their time making things up. La la la, life's such a funbus.
Still, it's better to be talked about than not, at least when you're in my game anyhow.
Lots of love,
CLP 2007

I heard that this morning - although I just accepted it as true, I thought good old Chris he's found someone who won't be a golf widdow. How often does that happen? |

The bit about Chris and Billie getting divorced was true though. |

Really? I didn't know the divorce was happening now. So, what is this SK thread about then? |

It was on the BBC news website yesterday http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6707757.stm
I think Chris was reffering to the 'marrying his golfing lady' part, I don't think this is on the cards. |

Yes, it's clearly Chris referring to papers hearing half-truths, rumours, and speculation and printing it as fact.
Same thing happened with Doctor Who yesterday: The Sun announced it was being "axed" but nothing of the sort is happening. Even their main guess (that showrunner Russell T Davies is leaving) was denied by the BBC.
It seems Silly Season starts earlier every year - I wish I could get a job as journo, reading messageboards all day and making things up... |

Yes but that was planted in the papers by Davies mates. You gotta remember that these guys use the tabloids as well as the other way round. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

He wants out. He wants out on his terms. Therefore he gets a story out to the papers to aide him in his forthcoming discussions with the BBC. Its leverage.
Where do most stories in papers come from? From people who leak stuff to journalists for their own ends, that's who. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

The Davies story has long been rumoured - but what happened was The Sun took a probable thing (RTD leaving) and turned it into a very unlikely thing (Doctor Who being axed). Just like with Chris they took one thing and made another. Quite why the papers need to do this, I have no idea. |

Possibly because RTD wants some say over what happens to the show after he leaves I would preume. Which is reasonable I suppose if you have spent 4 years of your life working on it. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
