R2 played 3 BB tracks this morning within 90 minutes : Lady Linda at end of Alex Lester's show , Darlin' before 6.30 news in SK, and then Surf City USA before 7.30!!!

OK, ok! Surf City was Jan & Dean!! I was wrong, and not for the first time - but it was still a bit odd having the other 2 BB tracks within 30 minutes?

Personally, I'd like to hear many more Beach Boy songs!
If I hear that rediculous garbage about an Umbrella one more time I'm going to The Jazz..... |

I often go to the Jazz, especially after 2pm! Surely it's time SW got the elbow? _________________ MiS |

Which one's that? I can't think of an 'Umbrella' song. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I just Googled it and I think it's by Rihanna..... not that she means anything to me.
But this track really hurts my ears....
Now when old Johnnie played My Generation by the Zimmers this morning, that was great!! |

As a one-off, yes,, but I fear that, with its future release as a single, everyone's going to play it, and it quickly becomes tedious. _________________ Ron |

Yes, I heard the one at the end of Alex's show, then another during SK's show just before I left home, and thought - two in that short space of time?
Still, it could have been Mika, I suppose, so we should be grateful for small mercies. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I quite agree about the Beach Boys. I've never seen the appeal, so don't understand why they get more plays than, say, The Beatles or Frank Sinatra.

Your hero Steve Wright even complained about it the other day - yet he's the only one who plays it every single day! It's not on the Playlist, he doesn't have to play it. |

All I wanna do is add some music to your day and your dreams come true, all summer long. The Times are a changing, where I belong, I can hear music, in my room, HELP is on the way, make it good, when girls get together with me tonight, under the boardwalk. |

Didn't hear it this morning, but wouldn't have minded. Eleven years separate the two songs and they're different in many ways.
Like playing I Saw Her Standing There and Long And Winding Road. _________________ Ron |

I suppose the general impression is Beach Boys = Summer & sunshine? certainly does for me, I was brought up on Beach Boys music (first LP) and love to hear them, even just to conjure up images of West Coast 60's funshine...
Yes I last heard that poor excuse for music yesterday on Stevie's magic show, but I didn't hear him complain about it. Good for him. It's total pants... |

The Beach Boys always make me think of Blackpool. Don't know why! Maybe that's why I don't like them...

He complained last week. Said it's OK, but "not the sort of thing you'd want to hear every day" despite, as I said, being the only DJ on Radio 2 who plays it. Every day. Does the wretched man have any idea of how stupid he comes across as? |

I like "Umbrella" by Rihanna- featuring Jay-Z
**see Wrighty... thats how you announce what you've played**
Maybe I'm in a minority of 1 for liking it, but I've always had very eclectic tastes.
The way I see it- No music is bad... it just so happens that it's not to your taste _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy!

Not forgetting Mika, the Stones post-1980, Bob Dylan(the singer, not the songwriter!), and Rod Stewart's murdering of the Great American Songbook - never have so many bodies spun in so many graves simultaneously!! _________________ MiS |

I dunno... give the people simple things- like "rights"- and they expect you to call them Mister!
