Have Messrs Rankine and MacKenzie posthumously re released this classic? If not why has it suddenly resurfaced and seemingly been placed on the A list recently. Come on Radio 2, it was a great song but The Associates did some other good stuff too. Club Country anyone? Time to put it back in it's CD case and return it downstairs to the archives. |

It's the old problem, isn't it? An artist can do plenty of songs but seemingly only be remembered for Horse With No Name, Year of the Cat and Brown-Eyed Girl (for instance). Yet other acts get their entire back catalogue played endlessly.
But at the moment I'm most puzzled by the re-emergence of It Bites! Having not heard "Calling All The Heroes" for about 15 years, I've heard it 4 times on Radio 2 in the last couple of weeks. |

Radcliffe & Maconie played Club Country at the start of a show one week.
As for It Bites's Calling All The Heroes - I guess it's in response to the recent reunion tour in which John Mitchell (the Arena guitarist, not the Calendar weatherman for readers in the North Of England!) replaced Francis Dunnery. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

Heh, if it was John Mitchell the Calendar weatherman from these parts, how long would he be on stage before he beamed at the audience and said "Here's the summary!"
Personally, I miss the funny place name combinations he used to have on his weathermaps but since viewers outside the YTV region won't have a clue what I am talking about, I will shut up now.
"Stanley" and "Ogden" was a good one though, and "Elvington" and "Kings Lynn" took a bit of working out but now remains a classic!
Sorry, didn't mean to go off topic, couldn't resist!
