I found it highly entertaining that dear old Ken had to occasionally revert to speaking down a telephone this morning.
They had a problem locating him at all to begin with, Terry had to cover while he got ready, or is that away from the bar.
Wonder what will happen tomorrow. |

Yes, Terry sounded as surprised as the rest of us that he was actually doing another 10 minutes of work.
I enjoyed Ken's show (even with technical difficulties) but didn't really see the point of him doing it from the ship. |

Probably because it's something a little different. Remember when John Dunne did Drivetime from Antarctica, or Ed Stewart (In pre-Sunday days) climbed up the Eiffel Tower while doing his show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Both Ken & Terry will be broadcasting from Finland next Thursday and Friday. What will happen if there is a techy hitch, will Sarah have to stay until 12:00 |

Nod-2 messages in again on a thread concerning Ken Bruce and you are bashing /being disrepectful about Richard Allinson again.
Give it a rest-have you some kind of grudge/ vendetta on here about Richard Allinson.
Can I suggest you change the record/get some help. |

I was only messing, I'm sure there will be stand-ins available but I can't see there being any technical problems from Finland, it's hardly the other side of the world is it |

You make it sound like he was using cheap walkie-talkies! It sounded more like an encoding problem on the satellite upstream, to me. It was quickly resolved. |

I have to agree with Ian.
Why couldn't Ken have talked to crew members, passengers etc a little more
Why didn't he go round the ship and give a guided tour.
Why couldn't he have passengers doing pop master or having some of their requests played.
It seemed to me to be ideal to do something a little different but it might just have well come from an office anywhere. |

Give that man a cigar... all excellent ideas.
Maybe you should contact the Beeb for a job Gaz?
I heard the Popmaster quiz on Friday whilst driving and was getting really annoyed at the rediculous state of affairs with the communication problems! it was laughable, surely somebody should have pulled the plug on it?.
I've not heard of Charles Nove before but I thought he has a great radio voice.... |

Didn't Charles used to do the scoring on Telly Addicts with Noel(tidybeard)Edmonds.
He used to be all dressed up in a dinner jacket if I remember rightly |

Yes it did rather lack something, interest maybe ?, he could have been sat in an office with a bad phone line, reminded me of the noel edmunds concorde trip around the UK on April 1st
What was the whole purpose of the trip, listening to people spending a fortune to holiday with a DJ, be it for CIN, isn't my idea of entertainment.
As for the technology |

Rather awlful, must have been the ships technology also interfering with the signal? |

Good point about the lack of information about the trip, I know it was a prize for the CIN auction but it would have been nice to hear the winners. |

Whatever it was, sounded like a STB with a poor signal, it was bad on Friday, even Popmaster turned into a farce |

No that was Charles Collingwood, I think, the actor from The Archers. Charles Nove has been a Radio 2 man for donkeys' years.
The links from the ship were a bit dodgy weren't they? There were a few times during the week when it all sounded close to collapse. |
