I just cannot get to grips with his presentation style & delivery, but the music is sublime, a tremendous eclectic mix, wowwwwww! Any other posters in seventh heaven listening to this.

Me too Barking, from what I've heard over the last half hour or so, it's just magic! shows what good music could be played.
I like his presentation and his voice after getting used to it. He makes Kermit sound like a wet sock... |

Lets face it Santa, O'Leary is as much use as a chocolate teapot, only CE has me quicker on the draw for the off or retune button. I just know I will listen to this many times in the next week, s**t, it just finished. Still there is another on tomorrow night at eight.

Yeah, I was a little niffed to hear it end, just getting into it listening on the TV freeview when the wife came home and wanted to channel hop so I resorted to listening on headphones via the pc and then it finished!
I think I'll use listen again later if it's available.
I don't usually think to use listen again while posting....
Extremely good programme..... |

Sorry to say that tonight's show was not a patch on last nights, very disappointing, IMHO. Ah well listening to SOTS at the moment, missed the first half hour this morning.

I quite enjoyed tonights show actually. Only heard the last 20 minutes, but thought it quite good. He played some great old gospel soul & blues classics. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hi ernie, pleased you enjoyed the show tonight, there were some good gospel & blues tracks, but I felt there was not the diversity nor did they gel together as well as last nights show.

I love the music on the show but cannot adapt to Bob Dylan's presentation. That voice of his grates. He sounds like Bruce Forsyth putting on an American accent. But above all, I think we should cherish this programme and make the most of it while it lasts. Such programming on Radio 2 nowadays is getting rare. What is left is being tossed around the schedule to diabolical time slots.
Shame about Steve Harley's show being moved to midnight Thursdays. |

Listening again to "Theme Radio", school tonight, show started with 3 great tracks and currently listening to James Brown. Still think last night's show was not on par with Friday's show and only put up with the presentation and delivery as the music is so good. Well that's my thoughts on Bob Dylan, what's yours posters?

Well, BB, as I think I've mentioned elsewhere before, I can't get away with his speaking voice but the subject matter and the combination of the radio spots and the music is a real learning experience. Therefore, I'm persevering with the shows (under duress!). _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Come on Cherskiy, just switch off for the dialogue, the music is just like nothing else we could hear, eclectic, but ohhhhhhhh so listenable to, Great. Will he play School's Out, what odds will you give me Cherskiy?

Well that was a racing cert, wasn't it?
And yes, I'll tune out the verbals and concentrate on the music instead in future.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I thought so, he couldn't really have omitted it could he? I did enjoy the music, strange cause I did not listen to any of the previous shows he did over the Christmas period, kind of wish I had now.

Its a bit boring when he plays a song you actually know I think
This show seems to have been recorded a while ago because he said at the very end that the school year was just starting which must make it September. Hopefuly then the BBC have a long backlog of shows to broadcast, so they wont run out anytime soon.
His accent is slowly getting more tolerable for me. At Christmas I could hardly listen to him at all. My advice to anyone else is to hang in there. You stop noticing his ridiculous speaking voice after a few months exposure! _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
