According to Digiguide, Dermot O'leary will be sitting in for Ken Bruce the week after next (april 2-6). No idea why Ken is having another break so son after the last one but anyway thi sis an interesting development as it is the first time that Dermot will have presented a daily show on radio 2,and could mean there is bigger things ahead of him on the station maybe...

Oh my god is this whats going to be happening now Mark Goodier has departed to Smooth?
I think Pete Mitchell would be ideal. |

Oh no!
Couldn't they have got Stuart? Or even Allinson? Or even, er, Andrew Collins or another 6Music-er?
The weird thing is, Ken is fantastic despite a dodgy playlist while Kermit is dodgy despite a great playlist. If only the 2 could somehow go together... |

Stand by for fluffs, anecdotes of paper cuts and really really bad radio.

I suppose Mark Goodier has now gone too smooth so the network is scrapping the barrel to who's covering these shows? Richard Allinson is on BFBS and can't really cover mid mornings and only really able to cover Sarah and Steve's shows, although he did cover for Wogan over the festive period, but his BFBS shows were pre-recorded. I suppose Stuart Macconie and Alex Lester have had a go at covering mid mornings and Pete Mitchell and Mark Radcliffe for Steve Wright, so they have all had a turn and it's Dermots now. I would think Lesley is given everyone a bash at covering a holiday cover to give the feel what the listeners feedback is like? Also I suppose the strap line for R2 continues " Different Everytime"? |

Does that mean we'll see the likes of Bob Harris, Gambo, Mark Lamarr and Elaine Paige doing stints for Ken in future? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I wouldn't mind hearing Gambo covering a show. Bob Harris does cover drivetime sometimes and Mark Lamarr for Wossy. Elaine Paige should cover for Sarah sometime. That would be a laugh and a nightmare for the early risescoughing away whilst the mic is live. |

Isn't it about time they gave Radio 2's other hidden nocturnal treasure Janice Long a turn in the daytime? It's been some years since she was last on Saturday afternoons. I think she would be excellent deputising for Ken Bruce. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

They didnt ask Tim Smith or Janey Lee Grace. Maybe they are busy recording the Steve Wright show while Ken Bruce is on? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Another reason to avoid listening to daytime R2. The list of such reasons is almost complete.

I groaned when I saw this - I love Ken's show but I won't be able to put up with O'Dreary. My listening hours at R2 are going down and down. _________________ MiS |

So are mine - when I think of how many hours a week I listened live or 'again' for back when R2OK began, compared to now, it's definitely decreasing. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
