I thought I would give these a go while waiting for the latest Elly Griffiths Ruth Galloway book to be published in February. I am enjoying them. I started with one quite far into the series - about the tenth I think, have just finished the second and am waiting for the first to be available in the library.
They are set in Victorian times and follow Inspector Colbeck and his sergeant through investigating various murders committed in and around the rail network. It is interesting reading about the different rail companies and the competitiveness with each other.
The girl he meets in the first book and eventually marries is a talented artist and paints pictures of steam engines - her dad being an engine driver. |
