Schedules return to pre-Covid timings next week, and Radio 2 have announced what's coming up in the next few months:
Bruce Springsteen: From My Home To Yours
New series (imported from American radio) where Bruce plays his favourite records. Starts Saturday 25th July
Sounds Of Summer Reggae Playlist with Levi Roots (8-9pm, Saturday 25 July)
Levi Roots plays "sunshine music" including Bob Marley, Shaggy and Sean Paul. Not for me...
Radio 2’s Virtual Folk Festival (Saturday 1 August, 8-10pm)
Mark Radcliffe presents brand-new performances (from their homes) from from Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Suzanne Vega, Kate Rusby, Fisherman’s Friends, and more
The Keith Urban Playlist (8-9pm from Saturday 8 August)
4-part series where Keith plays "a carefully curated selection of the best contemporary and classic music that’s moved and inspired him"
My Life In A Mix Tape (from Saturday 15 August)
A new strand for Radio 2, apparently, in which celebrities pick some of their favourite tunes and reveal the stories behind them and why they mean so much to their lives. Starting with Keeley Hawes and Emilia Clarke. This sounds familiar!
Sunday Night Is Music Night (Sunday 16 August)
The Great Northern Playlist - 10 new orchestral arrangements of songs from the North of England, performed by the BBC Philharmonic. Includes Tainted Love and She's Electric. Simulcast with BBC Local radio, and might also feature Craig Charles 'scary fairy' claptrap.
Bob and Greg (9-10pm, Saturday 22 August).
Greg James celebrates the 50-year career of Bob Harris. There's also a Country Show special on 20th August
Blur Vs Oasis (8-9pm, Saturday 29 August)
Britpop Top 50 Chart (2-5pm, Monday 31 August)
Two shows looking back at the 90s UK music scene
Johnnie Walker's Rock Show returns on Saturday 5 September |
