Not sure if this actually counts, but the earliest memory of Radio 2 for me was with Terry Wogan broadcast on the radio in the background... on Bless this house. |

Bruce Wyndham with Breakfast Special at 5.32 in the morning.
I can still recall the theme tune he had, but have absolutely no idea what it was called.
Any offers ? |

The tune of Breakfast Special was C'mon In by Syd Dale, played by his orchestra. I've got it on an elderly LP called the World of Radio Themes.

Mine is circa 1995: Terry Wogan in the mornings, Martin Kelner on Saturday afternoons and Michael Aspel on Sunday mornings! |

Funnily enough mine is of Brian Matthew's Round Midnight show, especially after midnight when I should have been fast asleep.
I also have bad memories of the Derek Jameson, but my doctor says that if I keep taking the medication the flashbacks will go away. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I remember that feature he and his wifre Ellen used to do: What's That Noise? I wonder if Mark Radcliffe will resurrect such an iconic radio feature? |

I used to like Charles Nove at the weekends. He occasionally reads the news these days. |

Night Ride : ah yes, used to love that. Charles Nove, Steve Madden, Patrick Lunt. These guys had fantastic radio voices. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I've never been an avid fan of Patrick Lunt. He always sounds grumpy (especially after 7pm on Sundays - I wonder why??!!) |

He's probably grumpy because he knows you'll post yet another spam mesage about him

I have only been listening to Radio2 for the last three years or so. Before that I listened to various commercial stations. I guess I tuned in for Steve Wright but the station seems to just get better and better or maybe I'm getting older and older. |

My earliest memories of Radio 2 include Bruce Wyndham and later John Dunn on Breakfast Special, the Jimmy Young Show in the days when it was shared with Radio 1(meaning that whilst it was on Radios 1 and 2 JY would stick to middle of the road entertainment with the likes of Matt Monro and Alan Randall, then when Radio 2 departed for Morning Story and Waggoners Walk, JY would slip on the likes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath etc for his Radio 1 listeners!), Open House with Pete Murray, Charlie Chester's Soapbox, the different shows every morning featuring bands (Billy Ternent was on Mondays and Edmundo Ros and his Latin American Dance Band were on Thursdays), Beat The Record with Don Davis, other quiz shows such as Treble Chance, News Huddlines, Hello Cheeky and so many more things now consigned sadly to history.
Whatever its faults may be now, I still regard Radio 2 as the best and most varied radio network this country has ever been served with.

I'd love to have heard Jimmy Young play Deep purple & Black Sabbath! Especially after, say, the recipe bit! |

Similar things have happened! Didn't Paul Anka recently release an album of rock covers? |
