Chris Gayling defends parents who smack their Children. The Justice Secretary say's " It sends a message ". This can be harmful to children, but as long as you don't hurt or mark them. Although I don't smack my Children, do you think this is right?

I reserved the option to smack my children as a last resort but seldom used it. They all seem to be happy, well-adjusted young men now.

A quick smack or a clip round the earhole never did any harm to any child - just so long it was done to teach them right from wrong and was not simply gratuitous violence
With the mess our society is in today I don't think anyone is in a position to criticize what was commonplace in previous years when society was far more coherent decent and had reasonable moral values - sadly lacking today _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

My sons very rarely were smacked. Perhaps I was lucky in that they usually responded to a verbal telling-off, even when they were tiny.
When I was child-minding a very high-spirited little boy I wouldn't have dreamt of smacking him and I do remember that on one occasion I gave him a good telling-off for picking at wallpaper after being told not to - and he cried! I felt bad about it but he never did it again. |
