The Telegraph today has published details of Mr Average, following a survey by documentary maker Tim Wardle.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/11/12/naverage212.xml
Gentlemen--would you like to read this and share any areas where you do or don't conform?
I conform as follows:
Married
Have at least three television sets
Have at least one Harry Potter novel (though actually it's Mrs W who reads them)
Can cook at least four meals (though my spaghetti bolognaise comes out of a tin or packet)
Believe in God
Know the first verse of the National Anthem (not sure what's meant by the chorus)
I fail to conform as follows:
Too old (am 59, average is 40)
Have three children, not two
Drive a Fiat Punto, not a Ford Fiesta
Am a tiny touch over 13 stone
Consider myself classless, not working class
My commute to work takes about 5 minutes each way on foot, not 20 to 30
Comment on some other areas would lead to my giving too much information!
Over to you.
In Search of Mr Average will be shown on Channel 4 at 7:30pm on Fri 23 Nov.

Well, the only average things I matched with were 2 kids, more than 80 contacts on mobile (though some contacts are duplicated with home/desk/mobile), foreign holiday, value of house, Harry Potter, cooking.
I'm way off with commute to work (customers) is usually 10mins, I'm classless, the car is a big Audi, fewer sexual partners in my lifetime, small feet.
So it's true about sexual prowess, cars and feet then
No questions about TV, radio and music?

8 times a month!!
6 partners!
so dips out? or is that with each one? ie 48 times a month in total?
as the average man is married I guess it's his wife who doesn't get her fair share. |

Was beginning to despair until the last half-dozen of Mr Average, and apart from Brad Pitt and the M&S underwear my wife would score all Ds.
Should I be glad to see that some people still have the time to waste on such a pointless exercise, and that some orgainisations will still pay them to do it? _________________ Ron |

40 years old - yep - 41 later this month, though.
Married - no, can't find anyone daft enough to take me on.
Has two children - not that I know of, or the CSA haven't caught up with me yet.
Drives a Ford Fiesta - yes, funnily enough. Sold the 2.0 Vectra as an economy measure, given the amount of miles I rack up each year photographing pointy-flying things. Miss the power, though.
Has size 10 feet - I'm not that big.
Weighs 13 stone - drop a stone and then we're talking.
Takes less than half an hour's exercise a week - do at least 40 mins a night when I'm not working overtime. Doesn't seem to work, though, although my hill climbing ability is 100% better than 10 years ago.
Owns 22 pairs of socks - haven't counted them lately.
Hates Brussels sprouts - no, quite like them actually.
Has more than 80 contacts in his mobile phone - nowhere near.
Considers himself working class - nope, classless, as JW.
Will eat 35,000 biscuits in his lifetime - lost count when I was six.
Goes on a foreign holiday once a year - nope, prefer Scotland.
Sleeps for seven hours a night - eight, preferably.
Owns a house worth between £190,000 and £210,000 - spot on.
Owns at least three televisions - two, or three, if I could be bothered to install a PC TV card. Hardly watch the two I have, though.
Has at least one Harry Potter novel in his house - nope, can't stand them.
Can cook at least four meals, including spaghetti bolognese - 100s, if I'm pushed.
Commutes 20 to 30 minutes to work a day (one way) - 12-20 mins if busy, 5.5 is the quickest I've ever done it. Could probably walk it in 35 minutes if I wanted to.
Believes in God - like to think I do.
Knows the words to the first verse and chorus of the National Anthem - yep. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
