I went to the local garden centre yesterday to buy a bag of wild bird seed, to cut a long story short I selected a 20kg bag of said seed, cost £15 (it clearly stated this on the front of the bag).
I got to the till and the young lady on the checkout scanned it in, oo'er problem, she calls for the supervisor. Apparently it had asked her to enter the weight, she didn't know how much it was a KG, fair enough.
I tried to help by pointing to the enormous label that said £15 but it was no use, the supervisor duly fished out a list and stated that it was 99p per KG which would have made the bag £19.80 not £15.
Realising this she then asks the cashier to deduct, wait for it... £10.50
Now I do not claim that my mathematical skills are in any way good but really, how the hell did she arrive at this calculation?
How I laughed, I got the bag of food for £9.30 |
