Oh that's a toughie... there's loads of music which would cheer me up if I'm hassled or stressed. I think it's more of a case of taking me "out of this world" and putting me in "that world" for a while.
As I type I'm enjoying listening to Gerry Marsden of Gerry & the Pacemakers on Wrighty's show.. their music, along with most 60s music will make me feel better if I enter a doom & gloom period.

I watched a TV programme on Gerry & the Pacemakers the other night ( British Invasion series ) I really enjoyed it and didn't realise that Gerry was quite a guitarist! He rarely looked at the Fretboard whilst belting them out. A great fellow and a great band...

It depends why I’m having a bad day really- if it’s the washing machine has broken down or I’ve chopped through the cable on the hedge trimmer (again) then anything up beat really- just something to get me moving. Goody Two Shoes by Adam and the Ants- Dizzy Miss Lizzy by the Beatles, something like that.

If though I’m having a bad day because I’ve had some bad news or I’m not feeling well, or just feeling a little unloved then it has to be Elvis Costello- Good year for the Roses or Gabrielle, Out of Reach – Ticket to the Moon by ELO, something like that.

I'm having a bad day! I reversed my wife's Seat Alhambra MPV into a low post this morning during a heavy rainstorm and put a hole in the rear bumper. She only bought it last Saturday!!!!

A song that lifts my spirits is Nick Drake's "River Man". It's a remarkably beautiful song, which is surprising given that he was a manic depressive who took his life at an early age.

Amarillo usually makes me smile Embarassed

I love the Lark ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams, it's so relaxing and tranquil, it reminds me of laying in a meadow on a summer's day.

Racing In A from Steve Hackett's Please Don't Touch album cheers me up, especially if I am on a car trip to see my relatives!

If I'm really down - say I got a job rejection - anything by Anthony Phillips does the trick to help me feel better. Currently it's been the CDs Missing Links 1 & 2.

Love & Anger from Kate Bush's Sensual World does the same on trips anywhere - the bit where the massed voices go 'what would we do without you?' bucks me up.
