Big or Small? Alex asked this very pertinent question earlier…..

Hmmmmmm toughy. I don’t think I’d like to be either , I’m quite happy being middle sized, a sort of smallish large person and a large end of the small scale person, I can mix equally well with all sizes. 5ft 10” that’s me. One chap texted in saying he wanted to be the same size as Kylie Minogue… Alex assumed the chap thought this would be for “Percy Filth” reasons, if someone is the same size as you then they will be attracted to you… wey hey!!!…. Did anyone see the photo of Kylie and her BF last week… something about that photo tells me she likes her chaps a bit taller than herself .. see this Daily Mail photo…

Anyway it got me thinking about all sorts of stuff, which … but mainly what size of man attracts me; there’s more to it than just size though, it has to be the entire package, especially humour, cos my hubby is huge and funny- he’s a giant who makes me laugh, yet I like some small chaps too, I remember bumping into Bernie Ecclestone , several years ago now in a busy, quite crowded hospitality area at Goodwood FoS , I looked down and he was right there in my cleavage, well almost. What are you doing there sweetheart, I enquired. Trying to find my way out! He said, rather abruptly.
There was a works coach trip we went on, also years ago but not so many as above and the bus driver was a dead ringer for Bernie Ecclestone, same size and everything:- he played G4 very loudly up the M6, Nessun Dorma over and over but nobody did.

I have a bit of a thing for small men if the truth be known , Charlie Drake, Norman Wisdom, Alex Lester, as long they don’t take themselves too seriously, in fact not seriously at all, in a , life’s a bike, just ride it kind of way. I know there’s always the depression behind the demeanour but I like that too. It’s a challenge, I like a challenge.

That said, I have a thing for some let’s call em, large people. Eric Pickles is a hoot.
I like people with character, they know who they are: stubborn people really excite me too, serious people on the other hand, well, some do some don’t. Iain Duncan Smith- no. Stuart Macconi – no. They take themselves way too seriously, oh and that Martin Brundle , throw him is that bucket too. Paxman on the other hand, serious, yes but funny serious.
The chap across the road from us is a big chap, about 60 ish, dyed blond hair, he wears pink trousers and goes jogging in womens sportswear that’s miles too small for him; he’s a constant source of amusement, he goes bananas if anyone parks in the road outside his house. He marches up and down the footpath keeping watch until the car owner returns where he tells them how inconsiderate they are. It’s a road, there’s no double yellow lines, it’s a car , that’s what cars do when they’re not going somewhere, they park. Sorry if this is a bit rambly , just getting it all down before another thrilling adventure to the hairdresser’s with mum in law. I like Thursdays, the sickly sweet smell of the hairspray, the whirr of the hairdryers, the twitter of the old ladies catching up on a week’s gossip, the waft of fish and chips from the shop next door and vinegar…. Oh the vinegar. Who wouldn’t want to be 5 ft 10”?

Laughing Laughing Laughing

How long have you got?
(How long have I got - not very)

I'd like to be a little bit taller than I am, for purely **-year old, practical reasons, like being able to reach the top shelf (of cupboards!) to retrieve contents without straining something or ending up with some of them falling on my head, or, more likely, on the floor and shattering into several pieces. At 5' 10" you are quite tall for a girl, Rach, and that's before the inevitable addition of a couple of inches of shoe heel - if I, you, and hubby posed together for a photo I think we would, in height terms anyway, look like Messrs Corbett, Barker and Cleese from the "class" sketch.

Being attracted/married to someone of the same height at least means you don't get a pain in the neck, or one of you has to carry a soapbox around with you, as well as the "obvious" advantage. But that, and any other physical dimensions, come well down the list when it comes to what attracts, long term. It's what's underneath or within the packaging and surface that counts.

Almost anyone would look taller/bigger than Kylie. I'm not sure that they look too intimate and comfortable together, as suggested in that article, although that's hardly surprising when you're being pestered by a photographer who wants to earn a few bob out of the Daily Mail. They've been together for five years, which is a fair achievement in showbiz terms, so they must be a fairly good fit.

A bloke has to be fairly careful on an open forum about which public figures he surmises might float his boat, big or small. Definitely not too serious, though, no crusaders or budding Margaret Thatchers (or Helen Harmans).
Of my neighbours I have one who fills the bill of nosey parker and traffic warden against people who park outside his house, or within 100 yards of it. I also have one with dyed blonde hair who also likes wearing pink and who goes jogging in women's sportswear. She is a woman, though, so I guess she's entitled.

Hope you had fun at the hairdressers, Rach. Oh the whiff of hairspray, peroxide, fish and chips and vinegar - you'll be smelling it all day.

I think maybe we, all of us, would like to be more of this or less of that, have a bigger the other, smaller what have you etc; sometimes I'd like to be a whole different person, occasionally a cat, but we're stuck, apart from the odd minor tweak with who and how we are. That is our lot. We can control many things but who we are is an unstoppable force of nature.

As ever , Ron, after nearly an hour sat just feet away from a fish and chip shop, the inevitable happened...with salt and vinegar too. Yummy.

This has been a good weekend, next weekend ...Cricket.

Big or Small?
Well when I left junior school I was 4ft 10 the girls were knocking 5 8. I remained this way until one night I started to grow. Virtually overnight my clothes did not fit. I stopped at 6 4 and now I'm shrinking. Being big makes you a target for short bullies. "The bigger you are the harder you fall". Did no one ever explain to these short asses that a saying is much easier than the doing.
Hands like shovels was one way I was described to the RAF policeman looking for the squaddie who had slapped one of his airmen.
But I ramble. I prefer Big unless I'm in a sewer but that's another story
