Such a good watchable actor and only 69. I first became aware of him in 1982 when he played Obadiah Slope in The Barchester Chronicles and always looked out for him after that.

Yes,another sad loss,Eileen.
My first recollection of him was in Truly,Madly, Deeply.
A fine actor and a fine man by all accounts.

Sorry to boot up an old thread.
I just happened across Truly, Madly, Deeply on You tube. Such a brilliant film and all the more poignant to watch now.
He was such a bloomin' good actor, a really big loss.
Like David Bowie he managed to keep his illness a secret from all but those closest to him, I find this both courageous and admirable. |
