|
On hearing that Ben E King had sadly died I remembered that I had seen him in concert in the 60s as part of a big line up as the shows were in those days.
I always thought it was the Gerry and the Pacemakers tour where I saw him but also remembered seeing Bill Haley and the Comets and thought they were also on the same bill (they weren't as I've now discovered!).
Thanks to Google I turned up a site that confirmed it was the Gerry Tour where I saw Ben E King and listed the other acts as well. http://www.bradfordtimeline.co.uk/music.htm
Looking further into it I found that I'd seen Bill Haley as part of the Manfred Mann tour later in 64. I usually went with my Mum who was a secret fan of the 60s groups, I was just 12 at the time!
If you were at a 60s concert and want to remind yourself of the line up it's worth having a look. You can even look at some of the show programmes.

Thanks for that,Helen..as you will know there were so many (great) acts altogether on one bill back then it's easy to forget just who you did see. |

I've discovered a few groups and artists that I didn't realise I'd seen! A lot were well down the bill as they were just starting out and I'd not heard of them at the time. Interesting site I thought!
