Once everybody has been given a "smart" meter (it's scheduled to take another seven years) they will be able to vary the cost on a daily or time of day basis according to demand and supply conditions, unless you are on a fixed tariff.
Low cost power during off-peak times is nothing new, of course (Economy 7 from the old days of the nationalised industry - which is still used, although I have noticed, in my research for our impending house move, that the benefit of that is often outweighed by a higher daytime cost than if you are on a single tariff) _________________ Ron |
