Not Lappland, but the temperature didn't get above -1 all day:
(Above: Bran Law and Watch Knowe front, with White Coombe and Firthhope Rig behind - situated between Selkirk and Moffat in the Borders.)
And why I risked 100 miles on icy roads first thing this morning and an ascent of a snowy hill?
I'm obviously certifiable! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Is that you in the plane??
It looks like a fighter plane! Is it yours?
I saw sprinklings of snow from the NEwcastle-Glasgow train - it looked quite pretty - picturesque photo |

No, but I wish! (Rachel, can you fix it for me to have a back seat ride in a Hawk or a GR.4? )
Seriously, Julia, no, it wasn't - I was on the hill taking photos of the jets. Some good exercise as the hillsides along that valley (they don't call them glens in the Borders) are incredibly steep, at least on the side I was on. The idea is to have no sky whatsoever in the picture and obtain some interesting backgrounds in the process. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Sounds like where I live. Here in Wisconsin we've had about 3 inches of snow in the last week and it's the warmest day of the week today. We're supposed to get up to 19F!! What's that in celsius? -7? Anyway--interesting pics! |
