I guess someone should mention about the fugitive Raoul Moat who is on the run in Rothbury Northumberland. Apparently it's one of the biggest man hunts for the last 20 years in Rothbury. He can't run forever.

I think you'll find that our much-respected and trusty friends in the media are doing exactly that, Mark. I don't know why you're linking to the BBC story - we're getting information from every direction and anybody who isn't aware of what's going on must either be living in a vacuum or on Mars. |

Call me cynical but if England had been in the semi final of the world cup this story would not have been given so much coverage _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |

I wish the media wouldn't call Ponteland - Pontyland. |

So do I Mark!
My grandparents lived there and it always infuriates me, much the same as Allenwick instead of Alnwick (Annick)!

In the same Northumbrian neck of the woods, my adoptive home town, Prudhoe, should be Pruddo but is all too often Proodhow!

Looks like it's all coming to a head live now on the news channels. Been watching for the last half hour.

And so it goes on...everybody seeking their five minutes of fame.....how rivetting it is to watch the news channels justifiying their existence by prattling on.. filling five minutes of air time with 30 seconds of news... oh look! Paul Gascoigne has arrived.... triffic... that should lift it above the mundane... NOT! _________________ Minx

Millions of Taxpayers pounds - Hundreds police & marksmen, SAS, tracker Helicopters, Tornado jets...cordoned of towns, Massive Operation .....Police drafted in from other areas just for one man hunt. Press all over the place.
PRICELESS.
At least one thing people of Rothbury will have something to talk about for years to come, plus it will put the lovely little North East Village on the map. |

Apparently Gazza wanted to help him and was interviewed on Real Radio. He sounds like he's been down the pub.We know he's an alcoholic and he has mental health problems which is hardly surprising he doesn't make sense sometimes.

I personally don't care whether he rests in peace or not, to be honest! At least he's saving us all the cost of putting him up for life in a prison again.
And, of course, the fact that he shot himself means that he's saving Northumbria Police £500,000 per day in costs, too!
"Good riddance" I say. |

I do agree. I was being sarcastic. It has cost around £3 Million of tax payers money. |

People are allowed to have civil debates like we all do on here and other forums, but using Facebook to debate about a man who killed one and blined one, and shot his girlfriend, stole off the public and whatever else he's done is a disgrace.
The man isn't a hero and this sums up how some folk in the UK and the round the world are. I blame countries like the US who have drove britan like this.
It's a bloody disgrace and facebook should be ashamed. |

Mark I agree with you on this.
Another thing and maybe it's me being thick, but on 2 news bulletins I heard today on R2 it said that Raoul Moat's half sister Kelly Stobbart blamed the police. Wouldn't he have had to be married to Samantha Stobbart for that to be the case?
I'm probably missing something but when I checked the BBC website it said half sister of Samantha.
