What happened to the scorcher summer that we were promised?
Today is about the worst yet up here. Rain, wind, rain, cool, rain. The next few days don't look much better.
What's it like where you live?

We had a deluge and storms last night down South, today is showery and cool. The heatwave seems but a lovely memory! _________________ MiS |

Just got back yesterday from 2 months in France. Believe me, this weather is heavenly. We've had endless days in the mid thirties and it wears you down, especially not sleeping at nights. Now, where's me wellies? _________________ Minx

Had another heavy cloudburst while I was out today - fortunately, unlike Monday's, when I won booby prize in the wet T-shirt competition, I was safely inside a bus.
It is remarkable how quickly a little rain turns the roads and pavements into rivers, with the drainage unable to cope. I'm sure we've had rain before in my 57 years on this planet and it always used to disappear or be absorbed into the ground quite seamlessly. _________________ Ron |

We too had very heavy rain on the Norfolk coast early this morning.. I got up early expecting at least one bad leak to deal with on our place but luckily there were none ( that I've discovered so far.. )
I had a nice waterfall effect onto our bedroom balcony courtesy of a blocked gutter above!
Funny thing is on another day, a little shower can produce two leaks..nothing major but annoying! must be something to do with wind direction.
by the way, Newfs and rain do NOT go together!!! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I'll bet they take ages to dry! And do they smell while they're drying - our collies used to. Not as bad as Airedale's, though. _________________ Minx

Have a look at this to see what's on the way, or what you've had (depending on where you live of course) http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/ _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

yes, our nice new black & white kitchen floor takes a beating from wet paws and of course the towel is purely a toy to bite and run off with through pup eyes!
at least I can now use all the carpet offcuts I've saved over the years... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

We've only got the one pup for the time being Toggy, but she's absolutely gorgeous and all in all, very well behaved around people and other dogs.
People we've met over the last few weeks are amazed at how quickly she's grown - just under 4 stone now!
We just took her for a short walk and I was hoping I'd see those pink baggy eyes which would mean it's time for bed but no way.. I made the mistake of putting ice cubes in her water bowl and she's had a "mad half hour" of charging around, tail tucked between her legs, with the cubes in her mouth and of course.. spilt water everywhere! oh well, out with the floor mop again.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I've been in Spain for over a week and in all that time I didn't see a single cloud in the sky with temps in the region of 38 degrees C during daytimes. Most agreeable!!! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

After all my rantings, we just about stayed dry yesterday and Newcastle was the sunniest place in the UK, with well over 8 hours.
But the two annual open-air concerts scheduled for Friday 17 and Saturday 18 at Gibside National Trust property, just at the edge of Gateshead, were cancelled for just about the first time in anyone's memory because of the weather.
