Hello all....
One of the topics up for discussion on today's show was .."What illness do you dread?"
My reaction was "What?"
What a peculiar subject!......the majority of the news is depressing enough without choosing a subject matter .......that hasn't even happened yet ......to depress further.....
Was wondering ...and that's why i joined..... if anybody on here found it an interesting subject?
I'm not always a negative poster .....honest.... |

Fatal ones
A truely bizzarre topic. Like something Richard Allinson would choose as a text in subject. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Hello Becky
I didn't listen to that part of JV yesterday but I can imagine it was pretty depressing listening.

I listened to JV yesterday- it was an interesting but unusual subject. Not sure that I fear any illness, if I contracted a bad one that would lead to a long lingering pain filled death - I'd choose my moment to pull the plug.
Life is the illness we all suffer from every day. |

I have been blessed with good health thus far in my life, but, having witnessed the pain, suffering and frustration endured by a couple of close family members, who eventually died, fairly recently, I cannot help but be a little fearful of anything serious that might befall me in the future.
There is little point in worrying about it, though; just hope that I shall be able to carry it with dignity and know when it's right to "let go" / pull that plug. _________________ Ron |

I thought it was a depressing subject and not entirely sure of the point of it. Was there lack of material in the news to use for the show? |

Hi Becky
Really good to see you again and Welcome.
I found it a very bizarre subject and wondered why an earth they did it too. Very depressing when one grandparent has died of MND and another Dementia . Mother of Caner.
Do we need to be reminded?
I turned it down half way through as I was feel lousy at the time with a flu type bug and it was enough to make you think.......did I have the plague?!!

Hello Becky!
I agree, very depressing subject and for what purpose?
Like Ron, I appear to have enjoyed good health generally although I did have Asthma as a scrawny kid.. didn't bother me much really and luckily, I hated football and long distance running anyhow!
It came back with a vengeance when my dad died back in '79 and landed me in hospital. I really couldn't breathe and I thought I'd had it..
With the new drugs available today it doesn't seem to bother me much but that would be it for me - not being able to breathe very well when I'm older.. it's terrible.
But, as I tremble at the thought of going to the dentist for a check up, I reckon any illness would worry me. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
