At the party last night I agreed to sponsor a friend who is running for a charity in this event a week tomorrow.
I used to do the run but don't get enough time to practise these days. Maybe when I retire...
Is anyone else taking part in this or equivalent events elsewhere?
And is it about time that the GNR's 'onlie begetter', Brendan Foster, got a K?

Best wishes to all whose feet are pounding the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields even as I type. This includes several mates, not least the one whom I'm sponsoring.
Have just heard travel writer Bill Bryson on the R2 midday news describing the warmth of the atmosphere which attended his participation in the Run last year and can vouch for this from my own experience of doing it in its early times. Maybe next year.....

I shall be doing the Cardiff Half in a couple of weeks. Not quite on the scale of the Great North Run but still fantastic none the less. _________________
