Sadly, after recent events I am no longer going to be an active participant on this board going forward.
Simply put great news the excellent DJ/presenter is going to be back on BBC Radio 2.
Be kind to RA when he next shows up-he is really a fantastic professional-enjoy his shows. |

I'm sorry to read that Mark after what appears to be a flurry over nothing really?
I'm sure we'd all be pleased if you decided to stay after all... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I'll second that. It saddens me that this board, which is the friendliest and most civilised that I have come across in my admittedly limited experience, but which is so often accused of being comatose, only really comes to life when there's an over-reaction or spat about fairly trivial things. Having read the threads through, I can see that people got upset, but there was no real agression, on either side, and it really would be a shame if Mark decided to stay away just because the administrator of the board declines to open a new sub-board, in the same way that it was a shame that someone else threatened to do the same when adverse remarks (and whose were those?) were made about Aled Jones.
RA always sounds a decent, happy, friendly bloke, of good temperament and cheer. Can some of this not rub off on MM?
Meanwhile, I see that he's also slated to cover for Johnnie Walker this Sunday. _________________ Ron |

Mark,
I will be sad to see you go over such trivial matters. It is, after all, only a messageboard, but you must do as you see fit.
I wish you all the best in the future.

RockitRon - I suspect you are referring to me (and I think we have met before )
I simply see no point in contributing info to a board when the response is so often negative and sarcastic - I have better things to do with my time and better places to be on-line. I am a moderator on a board, and the representive of someone on another; on neither do we feel it necessary to be negative. I have those who I dislike on radio 2 and elsewhere, of course, but don't feel the need to write and say so, or if I did I, would make my comments straightforward and factual, not sarcastic and undermining (and frequently ill-informed)
There was a discussion elsewhere as to the small number of people who contribute. Maybe this is part of the reason why.
And yes, you are right, he who complained about a negative reaction was the one who made adverse remarks himself! Ah well, people are not logical!! |

I did listen to RA yesterday evening. He's ok, I could get used to him in time I suppose but, I was very impressed with his studio guest.. I think her name was Ami Laveer or something along those lines. Played a slap bass.
I thought she was very nice to listen to and sounded like a nice person too. Appparently, she was briefly in the film "I walk the line"
Hope we'll hear more of her... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Richard Allinson Rocks!
Well he did for me tonight after playing Cream's "Crossroads" all the way through. This is one track I'll never tire of hearing with Eric's screaming guitar work... just incredible.
However to counter this, he also played "Hurt" by Johnny Cash which brings a lump to my throat everytime.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Nice to hear 'Precious' by Annie Lennox, much better than the always played 'Walking On Broken Glass' IMHO. I also liked hearing 'Strawberry Letter 23' by Brothers Johnson, also not too often heard on the radio. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I'm back-admin has gone I believe, and I have just returned from the USA.
Isn't it great that RA is back on Drivetime for 1 week, then next week covering for Steve Wright and after that covering for Ken Bruce.
I am so made up-back to the UK and a daily dose of RA-fantastic stuff.
Allinson rocks-you bet he does. |

I thought the music tonight was really good, but how much of it was Richard's choice, rather than the producers?
Fabby show as usual.

Rich is really rocking this week. Less like the rollercoaster, more like a drive home in a Limo.
Hello Mark - good to see you back.

I'll second all that. Would be even better if RA could somehow delete Teddy Thompson's single from the server as we've heard enough of it now and I'd rather like to continue to like the chap's songs. _________________ Ron |

Nice to see you back Mark M.
Rich has been good on Drivetime this week. I see Stuart is covering next whilst Richard is covering Steve. It's silly moving him around. I suppose "different everytime"
Make the most of him for 3 weeks as he might not be on duty for a while after that? |

Mark,
Good to see you back
You know I'm going to say this....RA is just 2 hrs of reading out texts on voting about some duff cover versions or 90's film tracks
..anyway but CE will be back soon..
all the best |

Well, I'd rather listen to someone of RA's calibre reading out texts on 90's films than someone not of RA's calibre who talks to kids about their AMAZING achievement, and then talks to women about what they're going to wear to bed tonight...
Each to their own! |
