I didn't like it. For me, the fact that a woman was writing from a male view didn't ring true. It seemed like a woman's ideal of a man, rather than a real person.
So, despite all the favourable reviews, it just didn't work for me. |

I loved The Secret History...it has a favourite poem of mine quoted in it..
WITH rue my heart is laden
For golden friends I had,
For many a rose-lipt maiden
And many a lightfoot lad.
By brooks too broad for leaping 5
The lightfoot boys are laid;
The rose-lipt girls are sleeping
In fields where roses fade.
A.E Housman
I read her second book....The Little Friend ..... last year and still get angry that i wasted my time with it |
