affects one in four people.I will hold my hand up and say i suffer from depression and have had spells in hospitals.Suicide is the 2nd biggest killer behand car accidents for the age group 16-24 and yet it is still swept onder the carpet..With the cuts looming i expect to see the figures rising

i agree about that littlepieces

Mental health issues can be seriously debilitating for sufferers but these problems are largely ignored by society in general and the authorities in particular

I think the incapacity benefits reassessment which is about to take place in the Spring is going to cause serious problems for people in this category because it will simply be a test of a person's physical ability to work completely ignoring mental health issues and I fear that the self harming rate could go even higher

I really hope it doesn't happen but from where I'm standing I think we should all be worried Sad

I couldn't agree more. My husband suffers from depression. I'm so glad we're not reliant on state benefits as any more stress would make life intolerable.

I've suffered from depression and so has my sister. I'm currently on Income Support with disability premium and I'm nattered about whatever cuts to this may happen.

The Crisis Centre in Leeds was shut - a friend of mine worked there - and the staff had a conference at the HEART centre in Headingley when I was on reception last Monday.

Without sounding well flippant...it is all very depressing Sad couldn't agree more, the future of care and support in this country is very worrying indeed.
