I liked what I heard in between turning off those annoying trails and the god spot, but the program is just too early for me, Six till nine would suit me fine, at present I listen between five forty andl six thirty. |

Nod,I have every respect for what you are saying but it does get rather boring when every post contains the same information |
I'll try my best not to mention them too often but they are my pet hate and are ruining R2 for me |

That's right, Mark - you make a judgement based on zero facts! (Nothing that appears in the Mail can be assumed to be fact, let's face it).
In contrast, I can imagine her being a complete bitch. Horrible woman! |

From The Guardian's Media Monkey blog...
✒Vanessa Feltz is officially the hardest working woman in broadcasting after beginning her BBC Radio 2 early breakfast show last week, in addition to her three-hour BBC London 94.9 morning programme and daytime Channel 5 show. "I got to the Radio 2 studio about five past two this morning," said Feltz after her first day in the new job. "It's now midday and I have scarcely stopped since. I can hardly remember my own name and whether it's night or day and now I have to write my newspaper column." _________________ Ron |

What the Guardian blog proves is that if you're one of the choosen few you end up with more work than is good for your health but if not you get shoved on at some unearthly hour in the middle of the night
It's seems to be the totally untalented and tired so called celebrities who are favoured as against superb presenters who seldom get a fair crack of the whip
It really does make me feel very grumpy _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I don't hear Vanessa very often, but on the occasions when I have heard her I've got the impression that she's not relaxed into the programme. I feel that I'm being announced to (and no, I don't mean she's shouting). Whatever the pros and cons of Sarah Kennedy, I always felt that she was warm and broadcasting to me, not at me. Vanessa lacks warmth.
I suppose doing a phone in on Radio London means you have plenty to spark off - she seems to be having problems finding anything much to say when you take away the callers.

Well if she needs a stand-in anytime- while she has a rest, I'm available and I'll do it free + expenses, just for the fun of it. |

Sounds good Rachel, so can I be a guest who comes in plays a couple of oldies, and a couple of REAL oldies and a couple of showtunes, plus a Mystery Voice spot ? _________________ -

In fact, we'll all come in Rachel. We'll have an early (or perhaps it might be very, very late!) party.
We could play "Pin the tail on the Shennan" and other such fab games!!! |

Heard show for first time this morning. My verdict is okay for what it is trying to do. The music is fairly gentle and her patter is alright.
Would I make a special effort to wake up early enough to hear the show? No but if I am awake at that hour I'll tune in. |

I heard a bit of the show yesterday when I couldn't get back to sleep. VF sounds as if she desperately wants to be liked. I didn't like the way she kept telling up who she was and calling us 'lovely listeners' much either. From the half hour or so I heard, I wouldn't completely avoid her, but neither would I make a point of tuning in. By the way, she did get me back off to sleep! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Like those shows Judith Chalmers and Katie Boyle used to do on R2 years ago. Certainly not terrible, but not something I'll really warm to, I think. |

I'm guessing that must be half term week and JV has school age children.
His last break was for Eggheads.

It’s called career progression, Colin. Most national DJs/presenters started out at some backwater local station – that is the way of the world. There is no Uni Degree course at the end of which- you instantaneously become a National Radio Mega-star, you have to work at it. |

Disappointing that Richard Allinson has not got a call up for this particular week during the daytime schedules.
Still at least there is some good news- Zoe is in for Ken Bruce. |

Did anyone ese think that the "I wanna wake up with you" caller this morning was Alan Carr trying to sound like a phone-in listener ? He was telling Vanessa how unlucky he was in finding a ladyfriend while speed dating- all the while I'm thinking , it'/s Alan Carr! It's ALAN CARR! Vanessa just carried on..... Cool beans... |

Close, but no cigar. Sounded too fluent and restrained for Alan Carr; more a cross between Carr and Chris Barrie as Mr Brittas. He could probably earn a fortune as a double for either them. _________________ Ron |

Is it me, or is Vanessa sounding more and more stilted and uncomfortable as time goes on? She seems to start a sentence and have no idea where she's going with it.
It really is starting to sound truly awful- add to that the painful exchanges with Deadly, the constant references to "Lovely Listener" (Yuk!) and the shoehorned attempts to get in as many big/clever words as she can into her "chat", I think we've the beginnings of another brilliant Shennan signing- ie: utterly abysmal! _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

I couldn't beleive this morning's offering....everyone text in with the name of a dog???!!!???
Talk about low brow! Give the show some thought girl.
A more general point..does every show on the radio have to rely on the instantness (is that even a word?) of text messages and e-mails.This over reliance naturally lends itself to dumbing down as the host has to keep it as simple as possible so the listener can communicate quickly. Surely there must be some talented people who can put together a show without total listener interactivity, maybe someone should realise that a listener interacts by simply enjoying the music! _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

As I've mentioned before some presenters are good and entertaining using listeners texts and e mails and others are not - one simply cannot generalise
Although I've no wish to listen to this particular show I can't say I'm surprised at your comments _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thankfully i'm rarely awake before 6.30am but when i heard Vanessa Feltz i thought her style was very stilted, and got the impression that most of her dialogue was scripted probably even the awful 'Lovely listener'
i prefer presenters who are genuinely interested in and knowledgeable about the music they play, and with the loss of Mark Lamarr the percentage of those has slipped drastically not that i'd expect him on an early morning! |

I think you are right. I had a bad night and couldn't get back to sleep last night, Richard Allinson's show was good. I wondered if anyone from here would get a mention on his 3.46 club! I would have texted in if the prospect of getting out of my warm bed had not put me off! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Unbelievably, Vanessa's show plumbed ever deeper into the depths of radio hell this morning.
"Text in and tell me about..........
your KITCHEN"
I actually texted in and asked if they were being serious! With the money VF is on plus a producer and the resources of the entire BBC, the best they can come up with is "what's your microwave like?"
