This REALLY annoys me. I was involved in a couple of programmes at Plymouth Sound when it opened in the mid-70s and in those days it was an independent LOCAL radio station.
I see now that this station, and 4 others in Devon, are not only to be rolled into one Devon-wide station under the putrid Heart brand but that programming will originate from London.

Stations formerly known as Lantern, South Hams, Gemini and Plymouth Sound are now operating as one Heart from Exeter, with all programmes except breakfast and drive originating from London. |
See story here: http://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.6227
So what happened to "independent local radio" in the UK? All we now have is a national network brand?
Still, if that's the sort of moronic rubbish that people want then let 'em have it! |
