If Radio 2 do insiste on "edgy comedy" i suggest they try hire Sarah Silverman. Now she is funny & really does break taboos |

why on earth would they drag Dicky in? surely the usual excellent Lamarr would have been the better choice? or are they playing extra safe? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Sadly for a man who is obsessed with Steve Wright I cannot take any of your postings seriously.
Get over your hang ups re Richard- simply put he is an outstanding professonal presenter |

Me?.. obsessed? ....me obsessed? come on....
I'm not obsessed with Wrighty at all, I just think he makes for great afternoon entertainment.
I actually like 90% of Wossy's Saturday show and always listen as I work. I think it's good to have a little zanyness on a Saturday morning as with Mark Lamarr & Joe Brand when they fill in.
I don't dislike Mr Allinson, it's just for me at least, he's more... well, cocoa and biscuits...

George Lamb is an interesting choice. His 6 Music show isn't as bas as some people say. |

There's an online petition on Facebook to influence 6 Music management to sack George Lamb. Some of the comments posted about him are appalling.
Lamb is a talented broadcaster who keeps me in high spirits. I like his show and I don't understand all the negativity about him. I'd welcome him to Radio 2 in open arms. |

What difference does it make to you which station he is on? Just tune in to the station where he is if you want to listen him- it's not difficult.
You been here before? |

No, it's a case that people are jumping onto the bandwagon. One person complains about him which leads to another...then another...then another...
A lot of the people who complain about Lamb/Evans/Ross/Brand don't even tune into their shows.
The Ross/Brand issue: TWO listeners complained. Next thing, people are crawling out of the woodwork complaining. There has been a conspiracy against certain Radio 2/6 Music presenters for a while now.
Why complain about shows you don't listen to? Leave them for people who enjoy listening to them. |

Mark, you're sounding paranoid.
And, FWIW, I never complain about any radio DJ who I haven't at least had a good listen too. Lamb is an obnoxious, foul mouthed little twerp and is unsuitable for ANY radio, let alone Radio 2. |

How am I sounding "paranoid"? Don't talk rubbish. Just because I disagree with you there's no need to insult.
And you say George Lamb is foul and obnoxious? |

I agee 100% with you Arcader.
On the occasions I have listened to George Lamb I thought his broadcasting style truly terrible-toilet humour. |

Mark, welcome to the forum,
That issue of the 2 complaints has been discussed several times on this site.
In my opinion the 2 early complaints only proves that few decent-minded people ever listened to the Brand show live, and of those only two felt it worthwhile complaining. As every member here knows complaining about Douglas and her troupe had achieved nothing in the last four years.
Now the obscenity of Ross/Brand is exposed , EVERY complaint is valid.

Hello there, John.
I am a supporter of Lesley Douglas. I am also a supporter of Brand/Evans/Ross/Lamb etc.
I am suspicious of the complaints raised about the Brand/Ross broadcast as a lot of the complainers didn't even hear the broadcast. On some of the online petitions and forums people have said "Sack Ross! Sack Brand!Sack Douglas!"
These opinions aren't even worth getting worked up about as they are worthless. Even some people on TV who have commented on the show have defended Brand and Ross, saying that people have blown the whole thing out of proportion.
There was a debate about it on The Week on Thursday night. Diane Abbott MP appeared to jump onto the bandwagon. |

Just because you dislike George Lamb, you think he should be sacked. Have you stopped to consider those who do like him? |

Baited? All I have done is back you in a corner re George Lamb. Don't be so over sensitive. This is a discussion group after all.
I am defending Lamb because I like him. I'm sure you would do the same with your favourite broadcasters.
The problem is some people don't like it when Lamb and co are defended and praised, which has been shown in this topic. |

Just last week, I promoted this forum to Radio 2, saying that it wasn’t like other forums- negative, sour, mean, nasty and cruel places that many of them are. I’m really quite shaken by what seems like an avalanche of schardenfreud gloating posts in the last few days. It’s very disappointing.

I don't appreciate being blown to pieces, attacked and insulted just because I defended Lamb/Ross/Evans/Brand/Douglas etc. My opinions are just as valid as those whom dislike the above mentioned.
I accept that I am in the minority on this forum, but I will continue to defend my favourite broadcasters against attacks. |

Rule 1 here says:
1. No thread should result in personal insults, either regarding presenters or fellow posters.
Rachel, I had to wonder what you meant, so a new word to me (correctly spelled) :
Schadenfreude is an evocative German compound word which literally translates into "damage joy", or the secret pleasure one may derive from another person's suffering.
I think those who for two years have opposed Brand's appointment and have criticised Lesley Douglas should be allowed some satisfaction. There have been many official complaints made by members here about the deterioration in the language used on air, and the subject matter of some Ross/Brand 'jokes'. I think the broadcasts from Ross and Brand over recent years have often crossed the line of common decency but not enough people were taking notice.
Up until now the Schadenfreude had been directed by Ross/Brand at their victims, is that not so?
The result of events this week have almost been predicted by members here, but they would never happen until our complaints were acknowledged as justified - this week those complaints were accepted, it was just a matter of time.
