Alex Lester or Richard Allinson, though I can't see either of them getting the nod - Dermot will probably get asked again. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I thought it's Aled Jones standing in. At least that's better than DOL, AL, RA etc |

In this 40th year celebration and after seeing Emperor Rosco on the tv this morning, why couldn't he and some other original Pirate and Radio 1 jocks cover the show?
That would be fun! in fact it would be great.
anything would be better than Devina or Aled ruddy Jones.... |

I see Eamonn Holmes is covering for Aled on Sunday. I don't mind him, but it is yet another Davina-esq example of a TV flavour of the minute being shoe-horned into giving the impression they're seasoned radio pros.
And yes, I know Holmes has done Five and Magic stints, but it's all quite recent. I like my prospective R2 jocks to have been properly round the radio block, proving their worth.
(That said, Pete Mitchell is the example that etc..etc..!!) _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

Surely someone with a spiritual side would be more appropriate as a replacement with Aled. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Holmes has been circling Radio 2 for years, and this isn't his first appearance. He made no secret of the fact he wanted Jimmy Young's job before Jeremy was announced. |

Him & Nicky Campbell then?
Holmes has been causing controvery because he is flown by private jet on Wednesday to Glasgow to present a lottery show for BBC1 then back to London to do Sky News breakfast on Thursday morning. Wonder if Dame Lesley will provide a private jet? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Given the increasing girth of Mr Holmes I'm surprised the Beeb aren't using a Jumbo Jet to ferry him around ............. |

Well after listening to the jocks on Pirate Radio Essex today, I don't think I'll bother with either of them. |

I'm just pleased I'm at work the first week, so will miss out on the 'delights' that will be in store from Ms McCall. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

10 minutes in and she's already grating on my brain - all I can say is thank goodness for 'Listen Again', now I can listen to the parts of Ken's show that I missed last week! |

I don't mind the McCall too much on the telly, though there's just something about her voice that doesn't translate well to radio. Bring back Gloria Hunniford!!! _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |

I would expect she's done a test run hosting a show which hasn't gone live to get her voice balanced. She does sound a little less loud. I think thats due to voice coaching? |

Thought I would give Davina a chance. She hadn't been on for more than 10 minutes when she announced that she would be taking phone calls from people describing how exciting their day is.
Personally I don't give a holy flying footprint how someone else's day is going. If anyone's existence is so mind-numbingly boring that they fill it by ringing some dubious numpty on the radio, then my comment would be - get yourself a vibrator or a rubber doll.
Ken isn't allowed to do an entertaining phone-in competition, but Davina seems to have permission to encourage her Big Brother brigade to torment our brain cells with their witterings.
Angry - you bet. _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |

From looking at the webcam I see that Davina isn't driving the desk - why is this? Is it beyond her miniscule brain-power? |

Thank goodness for The Jazz - real quality music and no shouting, and DEFINITELY no phone-ins!!
Has Davina been chucked off the air yet? Let me know when it's safe to go back to R2. _________________ MiS |

I feel sorry for Lyn Bowles having to put up with dappy Davina, especially Davina's unpleasant 'bullying' way of getting Lyn to perform some good deed or other. |

Aside from any other shortcomings I feel she has a very 'visual' , animated style of delivery that just doesn't suit the intimacy of radio.
Keep at it with that shoe-horn, Lesley. You'll fashion a radio presenter out of one of these tv names one day I'm sure. Meantime, check out this masterclass...

Apparently the internet is a great source to campaign to bring things back which helped cadburys relaunch Wispa in October. Will this campaign/ forum help not to bring back Davina to Radio 2?

A pleasant enough voice but not much substance to the discussion. I gave up after an hour and switched to a CD.
